Get To Know Mikayla
Mikayla Copeland’s journey to becoming a therapist took place at Nelson University, where she received her bachelor's degree in Human Services and Psychology and her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She has worked as a team lead in equine therapy, a tech in an in-patient facility, a director of activities in a memory care facility, and more. During her journey, she began to discover her passions.
Living in Dallas, Texas as a neurodivergent person, she walks adults of all ages through the process of late diagnosis of ADHD, ASD, and more. She has experience with and interest in helping adults who are losing loved ones to chronic and/or terminal illnesses, such as Alzheimer’s and other Dementias. Mikayla is also well-versed in supporting clients with depression and anxiety as they navigate life and learn to thrive. In addition, she is able to support LGBTQIA+ clients as they live confidently and authentically. Mikayla strives to create a place where peace can be found and answers can be discovered, and where clients can become their truest and most powerful selves.
Whether clients are dealing with anxiety, uncertainty, grief, new changes and challenges in life, Mikayla believes it is her role as a therapist to equip clients with the tools they need to make discoveries about themselves and their world, make difficult decisions with confidence, and move from surviving to thriving. To do this, she focuses on building emotional intelligence and confidence using a person-centered approach and tools from a variety of practices such as Polyvagal Theory, Internal Family Systems, DBT, and Holistic and Systemic Therapies. She is committed to creating an environment of safety and warmth in which any client can grow, flourish, and take actions towards accomplishing their goals.
