Mary Ellen Courtney brings a diverse range of clinical experience and a deep passion for helping individuals and families find healing, restoration, and renewed hope. Mary Ellen began her educational journey at Baylor University, where she earned her Bachelor's degree in Religion. Driven by a desire to support the emotional, relational, and spiritual well-being of others, she continued her studies at Dallas Theological Seminary, earning a Master's degree in Counseling. Her academic training, combined with her faith-informed perspective, equips her to provide thoughtful, holistic care that addresses the needs of the mind, body, and spirit.
Supervised by Linda Baxter, MA, LPC-S, Mary Ellen provides counseling for adolescents and adults, integrating evidence-based therapeutic approaches with clients' spiritual beliefs when desired. She utilizes a variety of treatment modalities, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), narrative therapy, and trauma-informed care, tailoring treatment to meet each client's unique needs and goals.
Her supervised clinical experience spans inpatient psychiatric care, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs for co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders, university counseling settings serving young adults, nonprofit ministry environments, and outpatient counseling with adolescents and adults. These experiences have provided her with a broad understanding of the challenges individuals face across different stages of life and circumstances.
